Brittany Higgins - nhân viên cũ của chính quyền Úc - tố cáo bị đồng nghiệp hiếp ở văn phòng quốc hội, vài tuần sau khi nhận giúp việc cho bộ trưởng quốc phòng...
-----
Months after a former Australian government employee (nhân viên chính quyền) said she had been raped (hiếp dâm, cưỡng hiếp) in Parliament House (văn phòng quốc hội), the police announced on Friday that they intended to charge a man with sexual assault (tấn công tình dục) in the case.

The former government employee, Brittany Higgins, 26, sent shock waves (khiến cộng đồng dậy sóng) through the country when she said earlier this year that she had been attacked by a co-worker in 2019. He had offered to take her home after drinks with colleagues, she said, but instead assaulted her when she fell asleep (buồn ngủ) in the office of the defense minister (phòng làm việc riêng của bộ trưởng quốc phòng). At the time, she was just weeks into a new job with the defense minister then, Linda Reynolds.

The accusation set off a debate about the culture of misogyny (tính thù ghét đàn bà) in the nation’s halls of power, and women’s advocates criticized some of the country’s most powerful politicians (chính trị gia quyền lực) for mishandling (giải quyết tồi, xử lý vụng về) the allegations (cáo buộc).

After Ms. Higgins went public, three other women came forward with allegations that they had been sexually assaulted by the same man.
