"The thing of it is" -> nghĩa là 'đây là mấu chốt, vấn đề chính'.
Ví dụ
“Some might say, “why bring this up now?” The thing of it is this: the coronavirus has a strategy (chiến thuật). Just think of this: Upheavals (chấn động) such as war, disease and other catastrophes can be followed by famine (nạn đói).
If you happen to be one of those getting back on the road and in the office, you might be thinking about owning an electric car for that trek, as well as all the punky little trips you make around town — going to the grocery store, picking up tonight’s pizza, or maybe trips to your local dispensary (phòng khám). The thing of it is, electric cars used to be all hells-to-the-no expensive. Today, however, there are a number of commuter cars around that aren’t all that pricey. We can all thank California for that.
So, which of these do you want to be…..the person that doesn’t take a chance and gets the vaccine and almost 100% will survive, or the person that takes a chance and possibly does not die? Because the thing of it is, again, is you have to decide BEFORE you get the virus.
With that in mind, let us turn to Ricki and Larry’s “love scenes,” in which they flirt (tán tinh), get into bed, and eventually have sex. The thing of it is, Bennifer does have a weird sort of chemistry in the film, but the script demands keep getting in the way. Like, if you squint (liếc mắt), you can almost see the rom-com (phim hài lãng mạn) that’s supposed to be happening. But the dialogue, not to mention the horrific set-up, is so bad that it all just comes out ludicrous (bố bịch).
