The internet trend - known as the Falling Stars Challenge - has prompted more than a million posts on Instagram and Weibo, the country’s equivalent of Facebook. Also known as the xuanfu tiaozhan, or “flaunt your wealth” challenge, participants posts pictures of themselves splayed on the floor amid piles of designer clothing, shoes, jewellery and even bundles of cash, The Guardian reports.

You ever fall out of your Lambo with armfuls of your luxury items just to flex on the proletariat (giai cấp vô sản)? The "Falling Stars" challenge is the latest trend sweeping Weibo and Instagram as the elite youth flaunt their wealth on social media. According to South China Morning Post, the trend is also known as the "flaunt your wealth" challenge in Mandarin, and started in Russia before mega-rich Chinese kids adopted it.

The internet can be a weird, frightening old place. But if it’s bizarre viral ‘challenges’ you’re after, then there really isn’t a better place to look on Earth. 2014 gave us the Ice Bucket Challenge and the year before the Neknomination craze. This year we’ve had Drake’s In My Feelings challenge, quickly followed by Ciara’s Level Up dance. Clearly we all love a good old online sensation. That’s probably why the ‘Falling Stars Challenge’ is currently sweeping across the Instagrams of the Russian super-rich.
