DBx: What Acton here means – as is evident (bằng chứng, minh chứng) from the spirit (tinh thần) of his work – is that both documents sought to liberate (giải phóng) humanity (nhân loại), not from history, but from the arbitrary (chuyên quyền, độc đoán; tùy tiện, tùy hứng) power that cursed (nguyền rủa, tai ương) humanity for most of history.
