A 61-year-old man who trapped (đặt bẫy) two rats (chuột) and released (thả) them in to his workplace (nơi làm việc) amid an alleged grievance (bất mãn, bất bình) with a member of his management team (ban điều hành) has paid €3,000 in compensation and will serve a six month prison sentence.

Bandon District Court in Co Cork heard that John O'Neill, who has since retired from his position in Cork Cork Council, released the live rats in to Rathbeg Council Offices in Kinsale on February 9 2021. The rats caused thousands of euro in damage before they were caught by pest control.

Sgt Paul Kelly told the court at the time of the offence the married man was an employee of the council. He was captured on CCTV entering the building with an item which was covered under his jacket (áo choàng) and leaving the premises (dinh cơ) shortly after presumably after releasing the live rats in to the property.

Sgt Kelly said that when staff came to work on February 10 the offices were covered in excrement (phân).
