cảnh 1: mắt mở to, có chút bàng hoàng; nhìn các bác sĩ rõ hình sắc nét
cảnh 2: mắt khép, có phần đờ đẫn, buông xuôi; hình ảnh các bác sĩ lúc này đã trở nên mờ ảo
cảnh 3: mắt khép hờ, còn cố cưỡng lại chút; các bác sĩ đã không còn nhân dạng
cảnh 4: mắt nhắm hoàn toàn, không còn ảnh, chẳng còn hình; "bác sĩ" cũng không còn, tất cả là một màu tối đen thăm thẳm
con mắt khép dần cho đến khi nhắm hẳn, kết thúc không thể tránh khỏi; từng cảnh cũng thể hiện sự chuyển mình của con người qua các giai đoạn trong đời
dimitris sử dụng bút vẽ thật tài tình, từng cảnh là từng cung bậc cảm xúc vượt ngoài khả năng diễn đạt của ngôn từ, như antoine de saint exupery trong "hoàng tử bé": "người ta chỉ nhìn thấy thật rõ ràng bằng trái tim, điều cốt yếu vô hình với con mắt" - dimitris vẽ con mắt để người xem "nhìn" bằng trái tim mình!

"The Surgery," created by Dimitris Anastasiou in 1979 using pencil on paper, is an arresting piece that profoundly reflects the brevity of human life. As the patient fades into unconsciousness, they are no longer aware of their surroundings and are powerless to alter their fate.
The operating room, in this piece, serves as a place where life is "dissected" in a direct and thorough manner, capturing the vulnerability of existence in its most raw form. The painting progresses through distinct stages that parallel the inevitable progression of life’s journey.
Scene 1: The eye is wide open, still alert and slightly bewildered; the doctors are clearly visible, their forms sharp and defined.
Scene 2: The eye begins to close, showing a sense of surrender. The doctors’ images have become blurred, as though the patient is losing touch with the surroundings.
Scene 3: The eye is half-closed, fighting to resist complete submission. The doctors are no longer identifiable, their figures now entirely abstract.
Scene 4: The eye is fully closed, no longer offering any image or form; the "doctors" have vanished entirely, leaving only an abyss of darkness.
Each stage reflects a transition in the patient's experience, from alertness to inevitable oblivion, symbolizing the stages of life itself, with the final closed eye signifying the unavoidable end. The gradual closing of the eye serves as a poignant metaphor for the passage of time and the impermanence of human existence.
Dimitris Anastasiou’s use of pencil is masterful, with each scene expressing emotional nuances that transcend words. It is as if the artist is inviting us to "see" through the heart, much like Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s words in The Little Prince: "One sees clearly only with the heart. What is essential is invisible to the eye." In this painting, Dimitris captures the essence of human existence, not merely through visual representation but through emotional depth that speaks to the heart of the viewer.
