'Keep one’s head above water' nghĩa đen là giữ cho đầu mình ở trên mặt nước để khỏi bị chết chìm, và nghĩa bóng là cố gắng một cách khó khăn để đối phó với những vấn đề tài chính, việc làm, v.v...
