'Up to one’s old tricks' có nghĩa là hành động lừa dối hay quỷ quái khiến người khác buồn phiền.

Ví dụ
Emily was up to her old tricks (giở trò lừa dối) last week. She made a date with one guy and then broke it (bỏ cuộc hẹn) when she got a better offer from another. She’s so constantly dishonest (gian dối); it’s amazing that she’s still popular (vẫn được cảm tình của các thanh niên)!

I’ve had enough of the members of the city council! During the last election, they were up to their old tricks. They promised (hứa) to cut taxes for everyone, but ended up giving most of the money to the very wealthy (những người giàu có). I should have known they’d deceive (lừa dối) the public (dân chúng) yet again!
