"Make a long story short" nghĩa là gì?

'Make a long story short' nghĩa là rút ngắn lại một câu chuyện dài, tức là tóm tắt những điểm chính cho mọi người hiểu, thay vì kể lể dài dòng văn tự.
Ví dụ
John and I thought about getting married, but to make a long story short, his parents didn’t like me. Now that you know the most important reason, you understand why we aren’t seeing each other anymore.
‘Casablanca’ is a classic (tuyệt tác) film about lost love, honor (danh dự), duty (bổn phận), self-sacrifice and romance (chuyện tình lãng mạn). Although it involves the lives of many characters, to make a long story short, it’s about two men who compete (tranh đua nhau) for the same woman during World War II.
