"Stand on one’s own feet" nghĩa là gì?

'Stand on one’s own feet' có một từ mới là feet, số nhiều của danh từ foot nghĩa là cái chân. Vì thế, stand on one's own feet có nghĩa là đứng trên chính hai chân của mình, tức là có tinh thần độc lập, có khả năng tự lập, tự túc mà không cần sự trợ giúp của người khác.
Ví dụ
She'll have to get a job and learn to stand on her own two feet sooner or later.
Now that I’ve graduated (tốt nghiệp) from college and found a job, I’m planning on moving out of my parents’ house. It will be good for me to stand on my own two feet. I want to be more independent (độc lập).
The hurricane (trận bão) caused lots of damage (thiệt hại) to the city.
