"A head-scratcher" nghĩa là gì?

Nếu "to scratch one's head" là gãi đầu gãi tai (lúng túng) thì "a head-scratcher" lại có nghĩa là một vấn đề nan giải, khó khăn, và vô cùng phức tạp khiến ta phải "gãi đầu gãi tai".

Ví dụ
We love college football for nothing if not the belief—hope even—that at any moment the unexpected could happen. Young as it is, this season has already provided its share of jaw-droppers (điều tuyện vời, gây ngạc nhiên) and head-scratchers.

It is a real head scratcher of a field that will contest the main Hatrick open class 520m event (Race 10) tomorrow evening. The box draw (rút thăm) has made it even trickier (khó khăn hơn), while the two occupants of the reserves bench (băng ghế dự bị) can certainly make their presence felt if they can get race starts.

Hollywood has a noble tradition (truyền thống cao quý) of great con (lừa đảo) movies. This ain’t one of them. Anne Hathaway’s portrayal of an elite grifter (tiểu thư quyền quý) is just a head-scratcher, and the idea that Rebel Wilson could con men in the way she does here is one of the few laughable things about the movie. She is a reliable slap-stick (chọc cười) artist, and that’s about it. Find “The Sting” on Netflix and enjoy a real con movie.
