"A name to conjure with" nghĩa là tên của một người hoặc tổ chức/ công ty quan trọng hoặc nổi tiếng; một cái tên của người có nhiều ảnh hưởng hoặc nói đến một cái tên thú vị, khác lạ.

Ví dụ
A man is skilled in using analysis (phân tích) especially in thinking. He does things right and pull strings to make great strides (bước tiến) without exception (ngoại lệ). That is why lots of men have names to conjure with.

I first heard the name of Paul Maas during one of the famous seminars (hội thảo) on Aeschylus' Agamemnon conducted (thực hiện, hướng dẫn) by Eduard Fraenkel, then engaged on his great edition of that play, and at once realised that it was a name to conjure with.

In the time of Sinclair Lewis as in Eliot's time, on the campus (khuôn viên) at Yale as in Harvard Yard, the name of names to conjure with was that of H. G. Wells. Sinclair Lewis went forth from his alma mater (trường cũ) persuaded (thuyết phục) that the mercurial figure whose name it is was little less than a god.

For we children of the nineteenth and twentieth century have learned to regard a man's name as something accidental and indifferent ... And yet the survival among us of such a phrase as " a name to conjure with " indicates (chỉ ra) that we have not long emerged from a phase of culture in which a man's name was regarded as mysteriously (bí ẩn) bound up (gắn liền) with his personality (tính cách), in such wise that, if he be himself gifted (ban tặng) with powers beyond the ordinary (bình thường), his name is vehicle of similar power.
