"Spit out the dummy" nghĩa là gì?

'Spit (out) the dummy' có từ spit là nhổ, khạc và từ dummy là vú giả cho trẻ em (pacifier, soother) -> nghĩa là phản ứng thái quá như trẻ con hay bột phát tức giận đối với một tình huống hay kết quả không như ý/ tiêu cực.

Ví dụ
Mercifully, for Scotland, Griffiths’ attitude is to knuckle down (đầu hàng, chịu khuất phục) rather than threaten to spit out the dummy.

It’s the players who now hold the aces (nắm/giữ quân bài chủ), and want to play for there country at their clubs expense, stop them and they will spit out the dummy very quick and want to leave known they can get more money if they test the water.

Whereas Kevin Keegan, who always wore his heart of his sleeve, clashed head on – privately and publicly – with Dennis Wise, Pardew was always going to be craftier in his dealings with a director of football. Keegan was impetuous (mạnh mẽ, dữ dội, mãnh liệt; bốc, hăng), quick to spit out the dummy, as well as inspirational and infectious (lây nhiễm, nhanh chóng ảnh hưởng đến người khác). Pardew is more of a political animal – courteous (lịch sự, nhã nhặn) and a good speaker yet measured and fully aware of his current standing whatever it may be.
