"Survival of the fittest" nghĩa là gì?

"Survival of the fittest" = kẻ sống sót phù hợp nhất. Cụm từ được ghi nhận bởi các học giả thế kỷ 19 như Lewis Henry Morgan và Herbert Spencer nói về thuyết tiến hóa, họ hình dung các xã hội như là những giai đoạn trong thang bậc của sự tiến bộ, từ hoang dã qua man rợ đến văn minh. Từ đó cho rằng những người có khả năng hoặc phù hợp nhất sẽ tồn tại (trong khi những người ít có khả năng và ít phù hợp hơn sẽ bị diệt vong).
