"A bad apple spoils the whole barrel" nghĩa là gì?

Poor leadership (sự lãnh đạo) is poisonous (độc hại) and, as the saying goes, a bad apple spoils the whole barrel.

All member states are involved in making EU laws. If one of them stops being a democracy (chế độ dân chủ), the legitimacy (tính chính thống) of the entire European process suffers (chịu thiệt hại): one rotten apple spoils the barrel.

Travel scams (lừa đảo) such as overcharging (hét giá) for restaurants, hotels, taxi fares, vendors (bán hàng), shopping traps (bẫy) and pickpocketing (móc túi) have scarred the whole country’s tourism success. Like a rotten apple which spoils the barrel, travel scams have held back the country’s efforts to boost service quality-oriented tourism.
