"A live dog is better than a dead lion" nghĩa là gì?

"A live dog is better than a dead lion" là câu thành ngữ có trong kinh thánh nhằm đề cao tầm quan trọng của sự sống: Còn sống là còn hy vọng, là còn tất cả. Điều này cũng giống như ví von ở nghĩa đen của câu: Thà là một con chó còn sống vẫn tốt hơn việc anh là một con sư tử (oai phong) nhưng đã chết rồi.
Ví dụ
Different religions (tín ngưỡng) have different opinions about death, yet another part of the Bible (kinh thánh) reveals (tiết lộ, bộc lộ): "For whoever is joined with all the living, there is hope; surely a live dog is better than a dead lion."
As Schulz put it, quoting former SPD leader and president of Germany Johannes Rau: “It’s better to get 1 percent of something than 100 percent of nothing.” Or, in the less chipper (vui vẻ) language of Ecclesiastes (sách Thánh), “A live dog is better than a dead lion.”
But there is hope for whoever is joined with all the living, since a live dog is better than a dead lion. For the living know that they will die, but the dead don’t know anything.
