"Beat the hell out of" nghĩa là gì?

"Beat the hell out of (someone)" = đánh bại (ai đó). Những cụm từ có nghĩa tương tự là "beat/kick the living daylights out of someone", "beat the pants off (of) someone", "beat the shit out of someone", "beat the socks off (of) someone"... 

Ví dụ 
Aggies just really, really, really wanted to “beat the hell out of” their arch (tinh quái) rival Texas Longhorns in the annual football game. 

Owusu Bempah has threatened he would have beaten the hell out of Opambour if not for the President and some big men in the country. 

The 31-year-old reacted by attacking the victim, continuing to 'kick the living daylights out of him' outside in the street. He repeatedly dragged (kéo) the man to the floor, kicked him in the head and also squirted (phun) a liquid in his face. 

I had lot of respect for the police force over the years, until I saw with my own eyes the incidents that took place on the afternoon of June 12 — riot (bạo động) police were beating the living daylights out of peaceful protesters (người biểu tình) indiscriminately (bừa bãi).
