"Break the silence" nghĩa là gì?

"Break the silence" = phá vỡ sự im lặng -> nghĩa là nêu ý kiến (nhận xét, đóng góp, bình luận v.v...) khi ban đầu tránh né không muốn nói, kiểu như giám đốc hỏi (trong cuộc họp) ai có ý kiến gì không đấy các bạn, anh em nín thinh luôn :); ngoài ra còn có nghĩa đơn giản là tạo tiếng động.
Ví dụ
David Sackler has decided to break the silence on behalf (thay mặt) of his family who have been blamed for fueling (thúc đẩy) the opioid crisis (cuộc khủng hoảng). The Sackler family founded Purdue Pharma, the manufacturer of OxyContin, which officially came to market in 1996. More than 400,000 Americans have since died of opioid overdoses (quá liều), including 200,000 from prescription medications (thuốc theo đơn) such as Purdue’s infamous painkiller (thuốc giảm đau).
Last week, the Logan County Commissioners proclaimed (tuyên bố) July as Break the Silence Against Domestic Violence Month (tháng bạo lực nội địa) in Logan County. The proclamation adopted by the commissioners states (ủy viên nhà nước) “We urge citizens to join in efforts to create social change to eradicate domestic violence (xóa bỏ bạo lực nội địa) and to support services and healing for survivors (người sống sót).
Bill and wife Sandra launched the golf tournament (giải đấu golf), and have created promotional items (hàng khuyến mãi) that include Break the Silence bracelets (vòng tay), T-shirts, golf-ball markers, and travel cups, to open a dialogue on suicide – to eliminate (loại trừ) the stigma around suicide and raise funds for the Canadian Mental Health Association's MOBYSS mobile youth health clinic that serves York Region and South Simcoe.
