"Eyes bigger than your stomach" nghĩa là gì?

"Eyes bigger than your stomach" = mắt to hơn dạ dày. Cụm từ này chỉ sự tham lam khi ai đó lấy nhiều thức ăn hơn những gì thực sự họ có thể ăn hết hoặc hay ôm đồm nhiều việc nhưng không thể nào làm xuể. Tiếng Việt cũng có một câu tương tự là "Con mắt lớn hơn cái bụng", 'no bụng đói con mắt'.

Charley found out his eyes were bigger than his stomach. He had to work longer hours seven days a week, but ended up losing money with his new place and had to close it down after a year of hard work.

Bahrain’s food waste increases by 50 percent and the United Arab Emirates’ by 67 percent. Part of the reason may be that hungry humans are susceptible (dễ bị ảnh hưởng) to the ‘eyes bigger than your stomach’ effect and over-order. Restaurant buffets, which are popular but wasteful (only about half the food in them is eaten), are also blamed.
