"Fling/ throw (one's) cap over the windmill/mill" = ném mũ vào cối xay gió -> làm bừa, liều lĩnh bất chấp/ hành động hài hước.

You are in love. And you've thrown your cap over the windmill with a vengeance (trả thù), the inner voice that was presumably (có lẽ là) her conscience (lương tâm) informed her.

Is it absolutely necessary to throw your cap over the mill just because somebody at last really understands and appreciates (hiểu và đánh giá cao) you? That was a question Bernadette often asked herself — quite fretfully (khá bực bội).

Our grandmothers threw their caps over the mills, of course, but, by Jove, their granddaughters only throw their caps over mills that can raise the wind for them. LORD AUGUSTUS (hoàng đế đầu tiên của La Mã cổ đại). You want to make her out a wicked (độc ác) woman. She is not!
