Powwow competitors gathered for music and dancing at the Siksika Nation annual powwow and fair at the Piiksapi Memorial Arbour over the weekend. The weekend festivities were from August 9-11 east of Calgary.
The Powwow will run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, with Grand Entry at noon. The second dance session will be at 4 p.m. that day. On Sunday, Sept. 8, hours will be 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a 10 a.m. worship (thờ phượng) service and 1 p.m. Grand Entry.
Garden River First Nation is excited to celebrate its gifts, talents, elders, accomplishments, and people, and it wants neighbouring communities to share in the festivities. The annual powwow hosted by Garden River First Nations is Friday starting at 6 p.m., Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. This year, it won’t be held on the traditional powwow grounds on Prince Charles Road due to the spring weather that brought high water levels.
