'The pen is mightier than the sword' = ngòi bút mạnh hơn gươm giáo -> bài phát biểu/bài viết hùng hồn, có sức thuyết phục tạo được sức mạnh ảnh hưởng lớn hơn dùng vũ lực hay bạo lực. Nhà thơ mù Nguyễn Đình Chiểu chính là tiêu biểu cho tinh thần nghĩa sĩ dùng văn thơ để thể hiện tinh thần yêu nước và chiến đấu chống địch "Chở bao nhiêu đạo thuyền không khẳm/Đâm mấy thằng gian bút chẳng tà".
