'A ripple effect' = hiệu ứng gợn sóng, mà các bạn biết đấy 'sóng' thì dồn dập liên tục -> tác động liên tiếp của thứ gì hay sự kiện gì lên những thứ khác.

Ví dụ
Asian ride-hailing startups Grab, Go-Jek and Didi-Chuxing are watching nervously for any signs of a ripple effect on the gig economy (nền kinh tế chia sẻ) from a newly passed California law that requires companies like Uber and Lyft to treat drivers as employees, eligible for benefits and wage protections which could be costly.

A brief bout (đợt) of thundershower (mưa rào có sấm sét) on the night September 21 in Dimapur set off a ripple effect disrupting power supply for over 15 hours to several localities. Lightning reportedly damaged a power utility point originating from Metha Sub-station affecting normal supply to colonies in and around the Clock Tower area and Tajen Ao Road (formerly Circular Road).

Thomas Cook may have been born and headquartered in Britain, but it is a familiar name in dozens of countries and its bankruptcy (vỡ nợ, phá sản) is causing a ripple effect, particularly in Germany. More than 140,000 German holidaymakers have been impacted and tens of thousands of future travel bookings may not be honored. Hotels, resorts and airlines, meanwhile, could face tens of millions of euros in lost or delayed revenues.
