"Dead beat" có nghĩa là mệt lử, kiệt sức hoàn toàn.

Black women leaders can save the day and all of us when we value their steps and follow their lead. That is what’s missing in America. Too many of us got no appreciation and no rhythm. That’s a bad and dangerous combination. It leads to falling in line behind a heartless, dead beat mogul (người giàu sụ và có thế lực) who can’t dance to the beat, misses the point, and has no soul.

Change can be desired – this feeling for change can come all at once or be built up over time. Regardless, we can feel this need arise in one or more areas of our lives e.g. leaving a dead-end job to build a dream business, leaving that dead-beat relationship so you can open yourself up to a better experience of love, going from a size 14 to a size 10, or blacklisting (cho vào danh sách đen) some so-called “friends” who are now toxic to your life’s journey.

To describe what Tim Parkinson‘s Pleasure Island sounds like would be doubly unwise: it would spoil the discoveries you’re likely to make as you listen, and the description itself would be wholly uninformative about the experience of listening. The press materials specify “ultra-minimal aesthetics (mỹ học), dead-beat drums, junk electronics, and mechanised (sic) mantras”—all of which are indeed in ample supply—but the juxtapositions (vị trí kề nhau) and interactions among these elements, however opaque (không rõ ràng), are what make Pleasure Island compelling.
