"Knight of the road" = hiệp sĩ đường phố -> nghĩa là một người, đặc biệt là đàn ông, hầu hết suốt ngày ở ngoài đường, dù là công việc hay vui thú, hoặc họ là người vô gia cư.

Ví dụ
Geoff was one of the industry’s more colourful characters and news of his passing was met with deep regret (nuối tiếc) from his many friends and colleagues (đồng nghiệp). He was variously described as ‘a true “knight of the road”‘, ‘a perfect gentleman, and ‘a truly nice man’.

Sir Billy Connolly proved (chứng tỏ) to be a real knight of the road when he turned up at random in Troon. For Mark Pollock,45, the visit made his day as well as being the third member of his family to meet the Big Yin. And Mark, who is bi-polar, said: “He actually spent between five and ten minutes with me, which I could not believe.

In later years, when I went out as a "knight of the road" (commercial traveller (người đi chào hàng)), I saw the demise of long-established family shops almost weekly. Time was when the main street in any town was a thriving (giàu có), vibrant place, humming with people all doing their business in a variety of shops.
