"Know where the bodies are buried" nghĩa là gì?

Ờ... mình làm quen nhé Photo by Paul Theodor Oja from Pexels

'Know where the bodies are buried' = biết nơi chôn cất những thi thể -> nghĩa là biết rất nhiều bí mật hay tai tiếng về một người hay nhóm nào đó mà không muốn tiết lộ. Thường sử dụng trong việc ai đó nắm giữ thông tin này để trao đổi những lợi ích hoặc thuận lợi cho cá nhân mình.

Ví dụ
Mr Harris is a former PSNI Deputy Chief Constable and acted as liaison (liên lạc) with MI5, and writer Andrew Lownie believes "he would be the right man to know where the bodies are buried on either side of the Irish border (biên giới)".

“If you’re telling yourself a story,” sings Tweedy, “where the secrets twist like vines / And you know where the bodies are buried / But you can’t remember where you buried your mind / Oh, no one denies everyone hides.” It’s both a reminder that we’re all in this mess together and an admission that sometimes you just have to bury your head in the sand to get through it.

The City of Los Angeles government doesn’t care about losing or spending more money; it cares about being exposed, especially by those of us who speak with people in dark corners who know where the bodies are buried. If we do return to court, we will subpoena (đòi ra hầu tòa) LA City Council president Herb Wesson and prove that the LAPD’s abuses were, contrary to its prior claims, politically motivated and driven by Wesson and Mayor Eric Garcetti.
