"Many moons ago" = (đã) qua nhiều con trăng, qua nhiều mùa trăng -> nghĩa là từ rất lâu trong quá khứ/trong một thời gian dài trước đây.

Ví dụ
Many moons ago, I became hooked (mắc vào) on Zodiac chronographs (máy ghi thời gian), after acquiring my first "good watch." At what must've been eleven or twelve years old, I was beyond elated, upon receiving an orange dial, two-register quartz chronograph as a gift, which I helped pick out from the watch display of a department store down south.

“‘Tin Pan Alley’ came to me many moons ago. In a foreign flat, the thoughts of my daily reprieves (hủy bỏ, hoãn) flooding my head. Namely, walking the streets of London in the pissings of rain, absorbed (say mê) by the narrow cobbled (sỏi) streets whose only purpose it seemed to me was to lead a man to another point of bewildered fascination (sự mê hoặc làm ngơ ngác, hoang mang).

Many moons ago, in the shadowy (đầy bóng tối) darkness of the 1990s, a young Lewin visited his elder cousin. An adept AMOS programmer, he had managed to get his Amiga 500 to control an RC car, with little more than a large pile of relays and guile (xảo trá, lừa đảo). Everything worked well, but there was just one problem — once the car left the room, there was no way to see what was going on.
