'Out of left field' nghĩa là không mong đợi, bất thình lình, đột ngột, lỳ dị/kỳ lạ.

"Notwithstanding anything that comes out of left field, it feels like the markets are probably going to continue to consolidate here for the next couple of weeks and then you'll see once we get to third quarter earnings  (lợi nhuận quý 3) what direction the market wants to go."

The truly shocking development that Delta would buy a stake (mua cổ phần) in LATAM, and as a result LATAM would cut ties with American and oneworld. This was all happening while American and LATAM were pursuing a joint venture, though they were having problems getting regulatory approval (chấp thuận pháp lý) in Chile. The extent to which this came out of left field, and the extent to which this largely reshapes (tái định hình) the global airline industry (ngành hàng không toàn cầu) in so many ways, can’t be understated (đánh giá thấp).

The St. John move, a seemingly out-of-left-field development first reported by Eater London, comes hot on the heels of the iconic restaurant’s 25th birthday. Opened in 1994 by Fergus Henderson and Trevor Gulliver, St. John has expanded a number of times within London. A bread and wine bar, a now-defunct (chết, quá cố; không tồn tại, hoạt động) hotel in London’s Chinatown, and a bakery all bearing the St. John name grew out of the original, but the influential brand has never successfully made the leap outside of London’s sprawling borders.
