"Preserve sth in aspic" nghĩa là gì?

'Preserve something in aspic' có từ aspic là món thịt đông -> cụm từ này nghĩa là duy trì/giữ điều gì không thay đổi quá lâu.

Ví dụ
The photograph is typical Oscar Marzaroli. Taken in 1962, it preserves a moment as if in aspic, an anonymous sliver (miếng, mảnh vụn/mảnh nhỏ) of Glasgow life. But it wasn’t part of a lengthy photo shoot. The celebrated (nổi tiếng, trứ danh/lừng danh) photographer was in the city centre to photograph a student rag parade, which at the time was a busy, raucous (khàn khàn) event. It is alleged that it even featured an elephant.

Johnson is trying to prepare for an election in which he pits the very institution of parliament against “the people”. This false battle relies on the idea that democracy should not be embodied in political institutions nor in their reflection of changing opinions. Instead, they seek a democracy defined by one day in 2016, preserved in aspic as an alibi (chứng cớ ngoại phạm) for any and every destructive path taken by the government of the day.

The entire planning ethos of the CPRE is to keep people away from where its wealthy supporters in the countryside live. It is effectively a consultancy firm funded mainly by the elites of the shires (một số quận vùng trung du England và một số nơi của các quận này nổi tiếng về việc săn cáo) to promote policies to preserve their areas in aspic. When the CPRE says it wants affordable housing, what it means is that it wants this affordable housing to be shoved in inner urban areas as part of “regeneration” projects. CPRE London, for example, has demanded that 360,000 homes be built on existing council estates.
