"Fair-haired boy" = Cậu bé cưng -> Người được cưng chiều, đối xử ưu tiên nhất. Cụm danh từ này chỉ tất cả nam giới nói chung.

Ví dụ
Who was this enchantress (bà phù thủy) who cast a spell on my fair-haired boy? It was a neighboring farmer’s John Deere combine. A lovely shade of green specific to the brand, this particular beauty wasn’t too big of a beast to intimidate (hăm dọa) a little boy, but, big enough to enthrall (mê hoặc, nô dịch hóa) him with the roar (tiếng rống) of her engine.

Apparently, to get hired (được tuyển vào) into the Trump White House you have to look the part, and say something that the boss likes (preferably on Fox News, making you the new, fair-haired boy or girl). The problem is that you get your exit notice just about as easily and everyone appears to be about one tweet from out the door. Just ask John Bolton. Is this any way to run a government?

— “60 Minutes” (7 p.m. Sunday, CBS) glances back at the 50-year career of correspondent (phóng viên) Steve Kroft, who spent a full 30 at the news magazine. For quite a few of those three decades, Kroft was the fair-haired boy of “60 Minutes,” the “kid” whose relative youth stood out in a crowd dominated by Mike Wallace, Morley Safer and Andy Rooney. In addition to this profile, “60 Minutes” will air a Steve Kroft piece on the 100 or so residents of the Isle of Eigg, located 10 miles off the coast of Scotland, blissfully (sung sướng, hạnh phúc) removed from 21st-century life.
