"Iron curtain" nghĩa là gì?

"Iron curtain" nghĩa là bức màn sắt. Đây là biên giới quân sự giữa Tây Âu và khối Cộng sản Đông Âu trong thời kỳ Chiến tranh lạnh, hoặc chỉ chính sách cô lập ngăn dân Đông Âu và Tây Âu di chuyển hoặc giao tiếp tự do với nhau. Bức màn sắt có từ cuối Thế Chiến II cho đến khi các Chính quyền Cộng sản Đông Âu sụp đổ trong khoảng thời gian từ năm 1989 đến năm 1991. Tourists from Western Europe travelling behind the Iron Curtain before its fall in 1989 could broadly be separated into three distinct groups: those attracted by the cheap prices; those fascinated to take a look at a communist society; and those who were left-wing sympathisers of the communist regimes (chế độ) (usually called fellow travellers or – less kindly – useful idiots).
