"Man of ideas" = người đàn ông đầy kế hoạch -> cụm từ này nghĩa là người lắm mưu nhiều kế, người có tài xoay.

Ví dụ
Jefferson, the man of ideas, wished for future generations to know him by the “self-evident truths” (sự thật hiển nhiên) that he would pass down to them, not by the practical compromises of his political career.

Mr. Pullman is a storyteller, not a lyricist (nhà thơ trữ tình); his writing is clear, clean and forceful (đầy sức thuyết phục), never striving for effect and all the more effective because of it. He’s also a man of ideas, which gives great savor (hơi hướng) to his work even if the ideas themselves are not universally congenial (thích hợp).

“He was a man of vision, a man of ideas who stuck to his principles. Sometimes he said things that people didn’t like, but he never made any compromises (thỏa hiệp) on his principles. He didn’t like that the Velodrome (which he also designed) became the Biodome. He said, ‘Better bicycles than penguins.’ But the guy was a genius, and it’s sad that we’re losing a friend of Montreal.”
