"Worth your salt" nghĩa là gì?

"Worth one's salt" có từ salt là muối, trước kia binh lính được trả lương bằng muối, do dó từ salt cũng là gốc của từ salary -> cụm từ này nghĩa là làm lụng rất tốt, rất xứng đáng với đồng lương được hưởng.
Ví dụ
If you are actually worth your salt in your claimed area of expertise (in other words, you’re not just slapping a sticker on your website claiming you’re certified in a certain area when in fact you’re not so much), certifications (chứng chỉ) show that you practice what you preach and that your boast (nói khoác) is actually worth their buck.
This is an easy one. If you’re at all worth your salt as a driver and sporting enthusiast (đam mê), I imagine that (1) you want to drive your fun car year-round, not just in summer, and (2) many of the roads you wish to transverse are not 100 percent serene (sáng sủa, quang tạnh) and smooth—what you’d really need to push a rear-wheel-drive sports car.
“The only thing you can do to be a husband worth your salt is keep trying. Don’t throw in the towel. Figure it out if you can,” he says. “I was touched to see just how invested people were in our relationship and moved by it. If it doesn’t work with Beth and Randall, I don’t know if I can take it.
