"Dead-end kid" nghĩa là gì?

Không phải là tiên tri nên đừng phán vội về tương lai của cậu bé. Photo by Joshua Gresham

"Dead-end kid" = nhóc ngõ cụt -> nghĩa là mấy đứa nhỏ chuyên gây rắc rối (thường là bé trai) có tương lai mù mịt và không hy vọng gì nhiều.

Ví dụ
A real-life "dead end kid," Frank dropped out of (bỏ học) high school after 47 days of rough-and-tough schoolyard antics (trò hề). There is a famous mug-shot of 23-year-old Frank with prisoner numbers on his chest after being picked up for … adultery (tội thông dâm, ngoại tình)!

And our juvenile justice (công lý cho thanh thiếu niên) system has evolved somewhat since 1938. There are judges and probation (tập sự, chịu thử thách) officers and counselors working to see that, at least some of the time, an encounter with the law does not turn a young person who made a bad choice into a Dead End Kid.

My father died before I was anything in terms of my career as an architect. He was somehow disappointed that I wasn’t a businessman. He was born in New York, and his father died when he was a child. He grew up in Hell’s Kitchen. He was a dead-end kid. He was a boxer. He didn’t have a chance to make it. He didn’t have any high school.
