"Die of a broken heart" = Chết vì tim tan vỡ -> Chết vì quá đau khổ/đau buồn.

Ví dụ
Australian heart surgeon Nikki Stamp told the ABC the stress of losing a loved one could cause someone to die of a broken heart.

A Sea Witch offers a potion that would give the mermaid (nàng tiên cá) human legs and solve her love problems. In exchange, her tongue and beautiful voice will be taken from her. She drinks the potion (thuốc độc), knowing that she would never be able to come back to her home in the sea and that she would only get a human soul if the prince falls in love and marries her. If he marries someone else, however, she will die of a broken heart and turn into sea foam (bọt biển) at dawn (lúc rạng sáng).

The idea of dying of a broken heart has been around a long time. Professor Ciavolella recalled an ancient story about a man who is rejected by the woman he loves. Distraught (quẫn trí, điên cuồng), the man crawls (quỵ lụy, bò trườn) in next to her while she is sleeping, and holds his breath until he dies. Ciavolella said, “The culture of the western world is full of stories about people who've died of a broken heart. And when surgery began, around the 1500s, people like Vesalius and others, some of the surgeons, went around looking to see whether in fact there were broken hearts and to see if people could have died because of it.”
