"It smells like somebody/someone died in (some place)!" = thối như mùi xác chết -> cụm từ này có nghĩa là bốc mùi khủng khiếp, sặc mùi hôi thối ở nơi nào đó.

Ví dụ
One passer-by (khách qua đường) in Galston, Ayrshire, yesterday said the town is up in arms over (kịch liệt phản đối) the pong (mùi hôi). They said: “It smells like somebody died in there. People are raging (nổi khùng).”

Some locals said they'd never eat there again. "It smells like somebody died in there," said Michael Jordan, a clerk (người bán hàng) at Strauss Discount Auto store next door. "I wouldn't eat there if they totally sanitized (làm vệ sinh) it."

I can't tell you how many times I heard a patient or a patient's spouse (chồng/vợ) remark, "It smells like somebody died in there!" After a while I came to realize that GI problems, whatever they are, and bad odor (mùi) just seemed to go hand in hand.
