"Like Grant took Richmond" nghĩa là rất nhanh và kiên quyết. Cụm từ này đề cập đến Nội chiến Hoa Kỳ, trong đó hai tướng, Robert E. Lee – tư lệnh quân đội miền Nam đầu hàng – và Ulysses S. Grant – tư lệnh quân đội miền Bắc chấp nhận đầu hàng. Với sự tương kính cho nhau và lòng đeo đuổi hòa bình cho nước Mỹ, họ đã đạt được hiệp ước rất đơn giản nhưng kỳ diệu để ngày nay người ta gọi đó là “Hiệp Ước Của Người Quân Tử” (“The Gentlemen’s Agreement”).
