"Get your knickers in a twist" nghĩa là gì?

Không phải xoắn, mỗi người 1 chiếc đâu cần tranh nhau. Photo by Pixabay from Pexels

"Get (one's) knickers in a twist" = xoắn cái quần lót -> có nghĩa là nổi cơn tam bành, giận điên lên (vì chuyện không đâu). "Knickers" là quần lót chẽn gối (của phụ nữ). Cụm từ này xuất hiện ở Anh, trong Anh-Mỹ có cụm tương tự là "get/have your panties in a knot".

Ví dụ
They also have these cheeky (táo bạo) cherry cotton briefs that come in a pack of five for just €5, so no need to get your knickers in a twist.

OK, it’s a bit expensive and a bit woo-woo (viễn tưởng), but I don’t see why you’re getting your knickers in a twist. That’s because I haven’t told you who’s selling it.

After all, narrow-minded (đầu óc hạn hẹp) keyboard warriors have recently managed to get their knickers in a twist over such “oh-so shocking” shifts as Disney’s live action The Little Mermaid (Nàng Tiên Cá) being played by an African American.

The Bushtucker trials (thử nghiệm) are the main event, what the crowds are screaming for, what we are all tuning in to see! It’s like going on Great British Bake Off and getting your knickers in a twist if they ask you to make a cake! It’s crazy! That’s what you are there to do!
