"Crack a smile" -> mỉm cười.

Ví dụ
The national men’s doubles pair of Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik made it into their first quarter-final of the year at the Indonesian Masters – but they can hardly crack a smile.

Over the centuries, theologians (chuyên gia thần học) have wrestled (vật lộn) with many knotty (nan giải) questions, such as: Does God exist? What is the purpose of life? And why do innocent people suffer? A layperson (tín đồ) might suppose (nghĩ rằng) theology, the study of God, to be so serious that theologians never crack a smile.

Simon Cowell sure was cranky (quàu quạu) during the Season 2 premiere of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions.” After all, he gave a red “X” to two acts: entertainer Hans and stand-up comedian Dan Naturman. However, Hans’ snarky (ác ý) comment following Simon’s buzzer actually caused the British judge to crack a smile: “You know what, Simon? When you let me back, I’ll come and sing, ‘I Dreamed a Dream’!” That was of course a reference (ám chỉ) to Susan Boyle, the former “Britain’s Got Talent” superstar who popped up in last year’s “AGT: The Champions” and sang her classic song for American audiences.
