"Drive (one) into a corner" = vào góc hẹp/đường cùng -> nghĩa là bị ép lâm vào hoàn cảnh khó khăn/rắc rối và khó giải thoát được.

Ví dụ
It happens to the best of us. The voluminous (đồ sộ, viết nhiều sách) readings and assignments that come with uni can very easily drive you into a corner. If uni is starting to be a bit too much to handle, it would be in your best interest to consider taking time off, or at least reducing your study load.

It was the day when the opposition wanted to drive him into a corner, but President Cyril Ramaphosa deflected questions and attacks like a master batsman. Even so, we know the government is now seriously considering turning to the wealthy pension funds to save the economy from collapse, writes Max du Preez in this week's edition of Afrikaans digital weekly Vrye Weekblad.

Plainly, there is no merit (giá trị, công lao) in rushing Lukashenko’s Belarus into the EU or NATO. But if Moscow continues to drive him into a corner, he may soon seek a loan from the International Monetary Fund. That would be conditional on thorough economic reform (cuộc cải cách kinh tế). He may be on the lookout, too, for European funding. That could be conditional on transparent elections, concessions (đất nhượng, tô giới) to civil society and a moratorium (tạm ngừng) on the death sentence.
