"Cut a fat hog" nghĩa là gì?

"Cut a fat hog (con lợn thiến, người ham ăn)" = Làm nhiều hơn mình có thể hoặc làm vượt hết khả năng/giới hạn của mình.

Ví dụ
We cut a fat hog when we got matrix management out of there. C/D: Why did the U.S. Treasury refuse to sell all its shares of stock at the IPO?

I had the 2WD version 1980 Kingcab for several years. Got in a wreck commuting home in 1993, got paid by the guilty party’s insurance company $2,200 for a total. Bought it back at scrap (mẩu thừa, phế liệu) value, reefed on the fender in the wrecking yard so it wasn’t protruding (thò ra, nhô ra) into the wheel well, mounted the spare and drove away. Bought new fender and bumper, $90 apiece. Same color even…the new parts’ satin black primer matched the paint exactly. I thought I’d really cut a fat hog.

But there is no argument that the GSEs recovered their financial health much more rapidly than anyone dreamed they could. And as they were recovering, the new Obama administration, under Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, saw an opportunity to "cut a fat hog" as we used to say in rural Missouri. And cut they did. They seized 100% of the income produced by the GSEs, wiping out private equity holders in the process. In effect, they seized private property for government benefit (and severely crippled hundreds of community banks in the process). By seizing all the profits of the two GSEs, they assured that the government coffers (cất vào két tiền) would be handsomely fed and that the GSEs would never emerge from conservatorship (bảo quản, giám hộ) unless the Congress dealt with the problem, which it has been loath (miễn cưỡng, bất đắc dĩ) to do.
