"Cut to the pith (of something)" = Tập trung trực tiếp vào phần chính, phần cốt lõi, phần chủ yếu.

With fine art you often have to wade through the arty speak to get to the pith of its concepts. Sometimes, this rhetoric acts as justification enough for things like appropriation and context. An artist from a prestigious (có uy tín) art school, with the right contacts, can combine whatever elements they please to produce 'accepted' art. I chatted to Bethany Hughes, Collections Curator at the Arts Council Collection about this paradigm (niệm giới, thế giới quan, sự biến hóa), and she had some interesting points.

The Aggies didn't choose their schedule this year, but this particular test suits their mentality. The established, the comfortable, the content: they don't pack their bags and leave home, looking for themselves. It's the young, the undefined, the restless and insecure that hit the road in search of identity, redemption (sự mua lại, chuộc tội, sự thực hiện), or both. In travel we strip ourselves of the superficial labels of home and past and cut to the pith of ourselves. Or, like that trip I took with my family back in the mid-Nineties, we simply find out what, exactly, we are not.
