"Cut your losses" nghĩa là gì?

"Cut your losses" = Không bỏ công sức, thời gian và tâm trí vào việc không có kết quả/dẫn đến thất bại; từ bỏ công việc đó trước khi nó trở nên xấu hơn hoặc mất mát thêm.

Ví dụ
Even if you have not spent your budget and are on a losing run, walking away for the day may be a good choice. Sure, you could win big on the next game but sometimes it is just better to cut your losses at the right time.

That’s precisely what you need to do. Admit that what you thought was right is not and cut your losses by changing strategy. The sunk cost effect implies that you need to accept the fact that the cost has already been incurred, cannot be recovered, and there’s nothing you can do to salvage (cứu hộ, cứu đắm) it by continuing down the same road.

If you have proven that your idea is dead, just let it go. Sometimes, you need to cut your losses and move on in order to preserve your most valuable asset — your time. Often entrepreneurs fail because they make the mistake (sometimes repeatedly) of becoming fixated (gắn bó, lưu luyến) on pursuing whatever they believe is a good idea without truly analyzing if that idea can make money.
