"A soft option" nghĩa là gì?

"A soft option" = phương án mềm -> sự lựa chọn/ phương án dễ dàng hơn, nhẹ nhàng hơn, ít cạnh tranh hoặc ít gây áp lực hơn so với các lựa chọn khác.
Ví dụ
Professor (giáo sư) Danny Dorling recently declared (tuyên bố) Geography as being a ‘soft option’. I don’t believe these subjects are ‘soft’ subjects.
He described the penalty (hình phạt) as "merciful" (nhân từ) and noted that higher courts (tòa án) had continually stressed (nhấn mạnh) the sentence should be seen as serious and not a soft option compared to incarceration (tống giam).
Contracts (hợp đồng) with soft options typically contain a clause (điều khoản)that allows the government to extend a contract simply by providing written notice (thông báo bằng văn bản) to the contractor with an agreemet to negotiate (đàm phán) the terms and conditions of the extension.
