"Ball and chain" nghĩa là gì?

"Ball and chain" = quả cầu và xích -> hình phạt xích hòn sắt vào chân (tù khổ sai). Nghĩa bóng là trở lực, chướng ngại, gây cản trở. "The old ball and chain" (từ lóng, xúc phạm) vợ (của ai - như vật ngáng chân).
