"Grate on your nerves" nghĩa là gì?

"Grate on/ upon (one's) nerves" = nạo dây thần kinh -> nghĩa là chọc tức, làm điên tiết.

Ví dụ
No matter how much love there is between people who live together, sometimes, you know, mom singing will drive you mad (phát điên). Dad's laughter will grate on your nerves. A brother's obsessive (ám ảnh) cleaning will rub you raw (nổi nóng).

Whether it’s a boss, partner, subordinate (cấp dưới), peer (cùng địa vị), supplier (nhà cung cấp), or client (khách hàng), at some point in your career you’ll more than likely find yourself in a situation where you’re working with someone you’d really rather not—whether they’re an all out nemesis (báo oán) or they just grate on your nerves.

There’s no way to quantify how many people are currently working from home, but the city, while not dead, is certainly quieter than normal. There are some upsides (mặt tốt) to this (I haven’t been out of soft pants in a week) but after a while, your spouse or partner or children or roommates or polycule (đa thê) or whoever you live with will start to grate on your nerves.
