"Not a Chinaman's chance" nghĩa là gì?

"Not a Chinaman's chance" = không có cơ hội cho người Trung Quốc -> nghĩa là viễn cảnh vô vọng, hoàn toàn không có cơ hội. Cụm từ phân biệt chủng tộc này có từ những năm 1800, khi người Trung Quốc nhập cư sang làm việc với mức lương cực thấp, thuế cao, bị cấm làm chứng trước tòa, vấp phải sự phân biệt đối xử...

In 2018, he used the phrase “Chinaman’s chance” to describe a piece of legislation’s (pháp luật) possibility of survival (khả năng sống sót). He’s also compared himself favorably to Kunta Kinte, an African slave (nô lệ) in the 1976 novel Roots: The Saga of an American Family.
Justice (công lý) released a statement the day after the incident (vụ việc) saying he did not use the word as a racial epithet (tên gọi phân biệt chủng tộc), and I believe him. Justice is given to folksy (bình dân) and occasionally culturally outdated language (ngôn ngữ lỗi thời). For example, two years ago he said there wasn’t a “Chinaman’s chance” he would support raising natural gas severance taxes (thuế khai mỏ) to fund teacher pay raises.
