"Shoe the goose" nghĩa là gì?

"Shoe the goose" = đi giày cho ngống -> làm cái việc vô ích, vô nghĩa.

Ví dụ
We all hate doing this job. It's shoe the goose! We are impassioned (mê hoặc) by meaningful work. We all want to make a buck; but it's not the same as making a difference.

Because of the hunter's need, I can have him do any work I wish: useful but not indispensable (cần thiết) work too painful or hazardous (nguy hiểm) for my own undertaking (công việc đảm nhận); or shoe the goose work.

At Whalley the carving (trạm khắc) of a goose fixed into the frame devised for shoeing vicious (hung dữ) horses has an explanatory inscription (khắc chữ giải thích) : 'He that meddles (can thiệp) with what man does, let him come here and shoe the goose'; in other words, waste his efforts (nỗ lực).
