"Soft power" nghĩa là gì?

"Soft power" nghĩa là quyền lực mềm, là dùng khả năng giành được những thứ mình muốn thông qua việc gây ảnh hưởng để khiến người khác làm theo. Đặc điểm của quyền lực này là thực hiện thông qua sự hấp dẫn và thuyết phục, không ép buộc.
Ví dụ
Soft power is defined as a persuasive approach to international relations and diplomacy (ngoại giao) that doesn’t involve coercion (sự ép buộc) and trades on a country’s cultural and economic influence.
Hallyu, or the ‘Korean wave’ of culture, has been a deliberate tool of soft power. South Korea isn’t alone in this; many countries invest in cultural councils and exchanges partly to strengthen diplomatic aims.
According to Dan Shah, Director of Research at the British Council, ‘soft power is an area where we benefit from a position at the top of world tables’. The report, which presents a comparison of the soft power of the UK and six other ‘soft power superpowers’ – China, Germany, India, Japan, Russia and the USA – provides an in-depth look at the current status of UK soft power, and areas for improvement.
