"Take a punch at (someone or something)" hoặc "take a jab at (someone or something)"= đấm một cú/ đâm một cú -> gây hấn, mỉa mai, chế nhạo, xúc phạm với ai/ điều gì.

Ví dụ
Sessions addressed a crowd after the Associated Press called the runoff (dòng chảy), where he said any thanks would be premature (sớm), but did thank his wife. He also applauded (hoanh nghênh his opposition, specifically Byrne. Sessions continued by taking a jab at Tuberville saying he’s in it for the fame and money.

To help Taiwanese protect themselves from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and to take a jab at the Chinese Communist Party's (Đảng Cộng sản) (CCP's) sensitivity toward any mention of the origin of the disease (nguồn gốc căn bệnh), the minds behind the cuddly Shiba Inu have come up with the catchy acronym (chữ viết tắt) WUHAN.

When they encounter (tình cờ gặp gỡ) each other, Blade is less than enthused to see him, saying "@#$%. Wade." Deadpool is a little less rigid (cứng nhắc), but he uses the opportunity to take a punch at the vampire hunter (thợ săn ma cà rồng), saying "Blade. Been in any good movies lately? Last I saw, you were huntin' down Parker Posey and some sexy dude".

When  Le Duc Tho,  at their  secret  Paris session on April 4, accused  the  U.S.  of fomenting  Sihanouk's  overthrow (lật đổ),  Kissinger could not  help  taking a little  jab at the  CIA: "I despair of convincing  the Special  Adviser that  we had  nothing  to do  with what  happened  in Phnom  Penh,  although  I am flattered  of (cảm thấy được tâng bốc, phổng mũi) the high opinion  he has of our intelligence services (cơ quan tình báo). If they knew I was here, I would tell them of this high opinion."
